Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the CookinBuddy app and website (the “Service”). The Service is provided by Błażej Kustra, a sole proprietorship registered in Poland at ul. Romana Kiełkowskiego 10B/12, 30-704 Kraków, NIP 6793333158, REGON 541922108 (“we”, “us”, or the “Service Provider”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. Please read them before using the Service.

Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account.

Subscriptions and Billing

CookinBuddy is free to use with basic features. Optional premium features are available through an auto-renewing subscription purchased via the Apple App Store. Before you buy, the price and billing period are always shown in the purchase screen — we will never charge you without making clear exactly what you are paying for.

• Auto-renewal — your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple sends a receipt for each renewal.
• Cancelling — cancelling is as easy as subscribing and takes only a moment: open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → CookinBuddy and tap Cancel. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and no further charges are made.
• Refunds — payments are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms via reportaproblem.apple.com. If you have trouble, email us and we'll help you through it. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory refund or withdrawal rights you have as a consumer.

If we change subscription pricing, the new price applies only to future billing periods and you will be notified in advance, with the opportunity to cancel before it takes effect.

Your Content

You own the recipes, photos, shopping lists, and other content you create or upload. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to provide the Service to you and the people you share it with — for example, hosting your photos and sending recipe text or images to our AI provider to power import and shopping list features. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service.

You are responsible for the content you add. When importing recipes from websites, books, or other sources, do so for your personal use and respect the rights of the original authors.

AI Features

CookinBuddy uses artificial intelligence to import recipes and generate shopping lists. AI output can contain mistakes — an imported recipe may have wrong quantities, missing steps, or incorrectly recognized ingredients. Always review AI-generated content before relying on it, especially allergens, dietary restrictions, and food safety instructions such as cooking times and temperatures. The Service does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful or to infringe the rights of others;
• upload content that is abusive, harmful, or that you do not have the right to share;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' data, or our infrastructure;
• abuse the AI features, for example through automated bulk requests; or
• copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or resell the app or its source code.

Our Intellectual Property

The app, website, CookinBuddy name, logo, and all associated software and design remain the property of the Service Provider. These Terms do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you, and do not affect your ownership of your own content as described above.

Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers that have their own terms, including Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, PostHog, Sentry, and RevenueCat. How these providers handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and Internet Connection

Some features require an active internet connection, and we cannot guarantee the Service will be available at all times. Saved recipes and shopping lists work offline; AI features do not. If you use the app over mobile data, your network provider's charges apply.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law — including your statutory rights as a consumer, and liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms; where reasonably possible, we will notify you and give you a chance to remedy the breach first. We may also discontinue the Service, in which case we will give you reasonable advance notice so you can export or save your content. Upon termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the effective date above. If a change materially affects your rights — such as pricing or how subscriptions work — we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and you may stop using the Service if you do not agree.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms deprives you of those protections.
